Schwarzwald

Sunday was a travel and rest day as we journeyed from Schwedelbach to Baiersbronn in the Black Forest. Most of the trip was by Autobahn (highway) not very exciting, though I was glad it was Sunday since that meant no trucks on the road.   Arrived at Petra Hotel in the beautiful valley surrounding Freudenstadt.  The hotel was originally owned by Greeks and has a Greek theme.  But the current manager is a young Romanian man.

We only took one picture yesterday of the black forest.  You can see how it gets it's name 😀😀😀😀

We went out for a light supper FlattenBrot and Salad.
We spent the evening trying all different methods to get the Patriots game on the computer.   Nothing seemed to work.   We were able to listen to the end of the game on TuneIn radio.  I think we will end up missing the Jets game also.

On Monday we headed out for one of the many trails in the area.  The walk was breath taking.

If you are viewing this on a laptop, if you click on any of the pictures they will show up larger with a selection of all the pictures in the blog.

After our hike we traveled over to Freudenstadt where we had a light lunch of another type of flat bread and soup.  Cheryl had carrot and coconut. Keith had Spicy Goulash.   We walked around the Market Place and ended up buying a cuckcoo clock.  You will have to visit us at home to see it.  In the park they had one of these massive trees that are related to Sequoias.

We did have one incident as we were leaving the parking garage.  I got to the exit gate and put in the ticket I got.   We got some message in German which I didn't understand.   I tried it upside down, backwards, reversed and everything.   Meanwhile, a line of impatient drivers were behind me.   Eventually the car directly behind pulled away and I was able to backup and pull off to the side.  An older parking attendant who didn't speak any English indicated I was to follow him.  We went upstairs to a machine where I paid and got a valid ticket (or the same, who knows).

I think we are in the hotel for the evening and then a long day of travel to Berchtesgaden in Bavaria tomorrow.
